When visiting Bank of China (Canada) website, you can directly type in the bank's web address: http://www.bankofchina.com/ca

Please be careful to identify fake websites, if you have any doubts or concerns, please contact us immediately Bank of China (Canada) customer service hotline 1-844-669-5566.

Keep Your Username and Password Safe

Bank of China (Canada) will never request or ask for your password via email or in any other way. Please be vigilant of any possible illegal behaviour to defraud you of your username and password by email, letter, telephone, or SMS. If you have any question, please contact us immediately by calling the customer service hotline or through "Contact Bank" function in online banking and mobile banking services (BOCNET service).

Avoid using alpha-numeric character combinations that can be easily guessed as your password. For examples: your birthday, telephone number, or vehicle plate number, etc. It is recommended to use the alpha-numeric character combinations (capital or small letter) that is difficult to be guessed by others and change your BOCNET password regularly. It is best not to use the same password to login other internet services, for example, using the same password for internet access or email.

Do not write down your username and password on paper that can be easily accessed by other individual. Do not disclose your username and password to anyone or accept suggestions for your username/password combination from other parties. Nor should you disclose your personal information, such as your ID number, passport information, account number and other sensitive information, to any suspicious or unverified person or website.

Please keep your BOCNET Service verification tool (i.e., E-Token) in a safe place. In case your E-Token is lost or stolen, you are advised to contact our bank immediately to report loss.

Attention in Operation of BOCNET Service

Do not access your online banking in public places such as cybercafé or public library; unfamiliar computers may be installed with malicious monitoring programs to steal your username and password. Moreover, your keyboard operation may be open to the observation of strangers.

When you login to online banking, please carefully examine the Previous Login Time on the main page and make sure it correctly reflects your actual online banking or mobile banking login activity to avoid being confused or cheated by malicious email or website.

Malicious email or website uses different disguises to make the fake website look very similar or almost identical to the bank's official website. These disguises include: i) use the images of the genuine website; ii) redirect customer to the genuine website, and intercept customer's data flowing through the fake website during the communication between the customer and the bank; iii) use similar domain name which may be falsely recognized as the domain name of genuine bank website.

Set a login password for your computer to secure the information in it and to prevent unauthorized access to your computer by other person. When you finish online banking activities or if you need to leave your computer or mobile device for any reason, please logout of the BOCNET Service by clicking the "EXIT" button on the top right-hand corner of online banking screen, and then close the browser or APP.

If you have any concerns or discover any abnormal activity on your account(s), please contact us immediately through our customer service hotline.

Ensure Computer Security

Install a firewall to prevent unauthorized access to your computer, especially when you are connected via broadband or modem. Regularly download and install the latest operating system and browser security program or patch. Install and promptly update personal firewall software and anti-virus software to avoid computer viruses and malicious programs from intruding.

Do not view any unknown email; do not use the link in the email to log in your online banking. Clear the browser history after each operation, especially when you are using a public computer, so that your account information will not be stored on the computer.

Use the latest Microsoft Internet Explorer or browser version with 128 encryption. If you are using Internet Explorer, we recommend that you turn off the "AutoComplete" feature to prevent sensitive information such as usernames, card numbers, and passwords from being stored on the browser.

Please refer to the following steps to turn off the "AutoComplete" feature:

  • 1. Open your Internet Explorer and click on "Tools" >> "Internet Options" >> "Content".
  • 2. Under "Personal Information", click "AutoComplete".
  • 3. Remove the check mark in front of "user names and passwords on forms" and click "Delete AutoComplete history".
