BOC Macau Donated MOP 920,000 to Panda Fund

On March 20, Macau IACM organized the 2016 Macao Green Walk and Tree Planting Event at Seac Pai Van Park. VIP guests who attended this event include Director of the Macau SAR Department of Administration and Justice, Chan Hoi Fan, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macau SAR, Chen Sixi, Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macau SAR, Cai Siping, Commander Wang Wen of the People’s Liberation Army Macau Garrison, Political Commissioner Zhang Zhimeng of the People’s Liberation Army Macau Garrison, Chairman Jose Maria da Fonseca Tavares of Administration Committee of IACM, and Vice President Ip Sio-Kai of Bank of China Macau Branch.

The Ceremony of the Panda Card Profit Donation 2015 was held at the event. Mr. Ip Sio-Kai, representing BOC Macau, donated 10% of the Panda Card spending profit earned between March 1, 2015 and Feb 29, 2016 (MOP 924,420.34 in total) to Panda Fund. The donation check was accepted by Chairman Jose Maria da Fonseca Tavares of Administration Committee of IACM. The donation will be used for panda conservation, reflecting BOC’s practice of its strategic goal of “Serving Society, Delivering Excellent”.

This year, the amount of the donation is 15.5% higher than last year due to higher spending with Panda Card by people in Macau, which shows the widespread identification among Macau people with the work of panda conservation. When customers of BOC Macau swipe their Panda Cards, they are at the same time participating in the conservation work and serving the society.

After the donation ceremony, BOC staff, representatives from the People’s Liberation Army Macau Garrison and other participants planted trees along the road in the park. It was foggy and rainy, however, all of the participants were in high spirit, walking in the woods, appreciating the flowers and birds and enjoying nature. Through this event, BOC staff assumed the responsibility and obligation as Macau citizens for Macau’s Green Project and nature conservation.

In the future, BOC Macau will continue to practice “Serving Society, Delivering Excellence” and help people become more aware for panda conservation and environment protection through Panda Card.
