Great Wall International Dual Currency EMV Debit Card

Great Wall International Dual Currency EMV Debit Card (GWI Debit Card) is a debit card which is co-branded by EFTPOS and China UnionPay and can be linked to one or more of your Savings Accounts held with Bank of China (Australia) Limited.

A GWI Debit Card is accepted by most financial institutions, merchants and ATMs in Australia and Mainland China. In other countries and regions, the GWI Debit Card is accepted by POS terminals and ATMs displaying the UnionPay symbol.

1. Functions & Features

(1) Domestic Use

In Australia, you can withdraw cash from ATMs, and pay for goods and services directly from your selected linked AUD account at most retail and service outlets.

(2) Overseas Use

GWI Debit Card can be used worldwide where UnionPay cards are accepted.

(3) Access to your Savings Accounts in AUD & in CNY

GWI Debit Card can be linked to one or more of your Bank of China Savings Accounts (in either AUD or CNY). But no more than 2 accounts with different currencies may be accessed in one transaction (and those 2 accounts must be linked by you to the Card for this purpose).

(4) Auto-link to different Savings Accounts

Auto-link is a feature that we offer to account holders who have linked more than one Bank of China account to the Card.

In Mainland China, when using your GWI Debit Card to withdraw money from ATMs, or to pay for goods and services, your card will seek access to the funds you hold in your linked CNY account (if you have one) or to funds you hold in your primary linked AUD account (if you don't have a linked CNY account). If you have a linked CNY account and the available funds in that account are not sufficient to complete the transaction, then (if you have enabled the auto-link facility) your card will automatically access funds from your primary linked AUD account (for the total amount of the transaction). You must have sufficient funds in the relevant account to complete the requested transaction.

In countries other than Mainland China and Australia, when using your GWI Debit Card to withdraw money from ATMs, or to pay for goods and services, your card will first seek access to the funds you hold in your primary linked AUD account. If the funds in your primary linked AUD account are not sufficient for the whole of the transaction, one of the following will occur. If you have not set up auto-link from a CNY account to your Primary linked AUD account, the transaction will be declined. If you have set up auto-link from a CNY account to your primary linked AUD account, the card will automatically access funds in that linked CNY account. If there are insufficient funds in that linked CNY account, the transaction will be declined.
