What safe deposit box service do we provide?

We provide a range of sizes of safe deposit boxes to meet your secure storage requirements for your valuables.

Are the safe deposit boxes fire proof?

Yes, all of the safe deposit boxes and the Bank's vaults are fire proof.

Do I need to insure the contents of my safe deposit box?

The Bank has no knowledge of the contents of your safe deposit box and accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to the contents. Accordingly, it is your responsibility to arrange your own insurance of the contents.

If I lost my key, could the finder open my box?

No, before anyone is allowed access to a safe, the identity of the person must be verified by the Bank.

Can a Bank staff open my safe deposit box?

No, not in normal circumstances. The key used by our staff for your access to the safe deposit box cannot be used to open any safe deposit box on its own. It must be used together with your key to open the safe deposit box. Also, the Bank implements a strict key registration and management procedure - we do not keep a duplicate o your key.

Can other persons have access to my safe deposit box?

Only if they are authorised by you, or we are required by law (including in accordance with an order of a court or other judicial or administrative body). The Bank itself may also have access in limited circumstances such as the Hire Fee remains unpaid for more than 3 months.

In the event of death of the sole hirer, the Bank may grant access to the box to the Executor/Administrator of the hirer if the Bank has received the production of the Probate or Letters of Administration. Where two or more hirers use safe deposit box, the survivor(s) will have access to the box.

How to renew my safe deposit box after the commencement date?

The Bank is given your authorisation to debit the amount of fee and charge from your nominated account when you sign the Agreement for Hire of Safe Deposit Box, thus your annual hire fee will be direct debited in advance on each anniversary of the commencement.

What items are forbidden to be placed or kept in safe deposit box?

You must not keep cash in the amount equal or more than AUD10,000 ( or equivalent in another currency or currencies combined) in the box;not place or keep any liquids, explosives, guns, flammable material, explosive material, drugs, gas, corrosion, radiation or things which may become dangerous, offensive or a nuisance to any person, things which may harm the interests of others; not place or keep any item that may be damaged due to temperature fluctuations or the item requires a controlled environment (e.g. audio/visual tape, computer disk, film, wine).
