On August 6, Bank of China made a RMB5 million donation to the quake-hit area of Ludian, Yunnan province, in a bid to fully support the local earthquake and disaster relief efforts.
After Ludian county was stricken by the 6.5-Richter scale quake, BOC responded quickly with its earthquake relief work, and went all out to provide the necessary financial services for disaster relief efforts on the condition of ensuring the safety of its employees and institutions.
BOC has 2 sub-branches in Zhaotong city of Yunnan province, but none in Ludian, the epicenter. Up to now, there have been no casualties or heavy property losses. At present, Bank of China Yunnan Branch has activated the emergency mechanism across all its outlets, ensured the normal operation of all self-service facilities including ATMs, and contacted clients to offer necessary assistance, striving to meet the emergent financial demands of people in the quake-hit area. Moreover, all the domestic and overseas institutions of BOC have created a green channel for donations, exempted the remittance charge for the special donation account, and ensured the actual transfer and allocation of financial assistance as required.
Next, BOC will practically implement the arrangements of the CBRC for ensuring financial services amid the earthquake relief work in Ludian, Yunnan, properly deal with loans in the quake-hit area with targeted credit support, and fully support the local people to rebuild their homes.
