2009-12-10
The design (image, colour and size) of Bank of China Macau Patacas banknotes (2003 edition) is basically the same as the 1995 edition. In addition, a number of advanced security features have been added to enhance their anti-counterfeiting capability.

When the banknote is held up against the light, the logo of Bank of China and denomination numeral will appear on both sides of the banknote.
Holographic Windowed Security Thread
A 3mm-wide security thread with holographic images is woven on the front of banknote. When the banknote is viewed sideways under light, the words of “Bank of China” and the logo of Bank of China will appear with changing colours.
Highlight Watermark
A highly bright watermark of the denomination numeral will show when the banknote is held up against light.
Intaglio Printing Lines
A group of intaglio printing finger-feel lines is printed at the left top corner on the front of banknote, giving lumpy feeling in touch.
Banknote’s Serial Number
Two identical serial numbers of the banknote are printed on the face side: one is printed on the left with a group of ascending figures, another is printed at the bottom on the right with a group of gradually changing symmetric figures with two different colours.
Fluorescent Fibres
Yellow and blue fibres randomly embedded in the paper will become visible under ultraviolet light.

hen the banknote is held up against the light, the lines of both sides of the banknotes will form an entire Lotus image and the denomination numeral, and the lines on the face side will give lumpy feeling in touch.
