Application of Credit Cards

1. What requirements must I satisfy when I apply for the BOC Credit Cards?

Principal: Under the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) guidelines, to be eligible to apply for a credit card, you need to be at least 21 years old and a resident of Singapore or Permanent resident or a foreigner working and residing in Singapore. Your annual income must be at least $30,000. For foreigners, minimum income qualification is $60,000 per annum.

2. How do I apply for your Card and what are the documents required by your bank?

Simply complete the BOC Credit Card application forms and attached:

For salaried employees: Please submit your latest income Tax Notice of Assessment, latest computerised payslip or last 6 months’ CPF Statement of Account and photocopy of NRIC (front and back).

For self-employed: Commission or variable income earners, please submit past 12 months’ CPF statement or last 2 years’ Income Tax Notice of Assessment and photocopy of NRIC (front ad back)

For foreigners: Please also include photocopy of your employment pass (valid for at least 9 months) and passport.

3. How can I check the status of my credit card application submitted?

Please call our 24 hours Customer Service Hotline at 1800-338-5335.

Our Customer Service Officers would be able to assist and check on your card application. For Credit Card applications received, processing will take about 2 weeks, however, if you need the Card urgently, please let us know and we will expedite your application.

Credit Limit

4. What will be the credit limit extended to me?

We will assess each applicant individually but the maximum credit limit is 2 times your monthly salary. This limit is a combined limit of all your BOC credit cards including your Supplementary Card.

5. I wish to increase my credit limit, what shall I do?

For permanent credit limit increase, we would appreciate if you could give us a written instruction and submit your latest income documents.

Loss of Credit Cards

6. How do I report the loss of my credit card?

Please call our Customer Service Hotline at 1800-338-5335 (24 hours) to report loss of card immediately.

The Cardholder shall not be liable for any transactions carried out after the bank has been notified of the loss/theft/unauthorised use of the Card. However, the Cardholder shall continue to be liable for all authorised or unauthorised card transactions effected with the use of the PIN and cash advances made even after notification is received by the Bank of the loss/theft/unauthorised use of the PIN.

Payment of Credit Cards

7. How and where can I make payments?

Payment have to be made in Singapore currency through the AXS machine, inter-bank GIRO, by telephone banking,by cheque or money order drawn on a bank in Singapore. Please do not send cash through the mail. Cash payments should be made at Bank of China’s main and sub-branches in Singapore. If we decided to accept payment made in some other form of, your account will not be credited until your payment is converted into Singapore dollars. Costs incurred will be chargeable.
