London Branch Participates in the 2023 City of London Lord Mayor's Show

On November 11, 2023, the annual Lord Mayor's show took place in the City of London with all the usual pomp and pageantry. As the Chair Member of China Chamber of Commerce in the UK (CCCUK), Bank of China London Branch joined over 50 participants from six other member institutions to present a themed float with the banner of "10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, Connecting East & West ". This marked a highlight of the parade, showcasing the confidence of promoting trade cooperation between China and the UK.

The CCCUK's float featured pandas and camels as its main imagery, incorporating elements from both the Chinese Temple of Heaven and the British St. Paul's Cathedral. This fusion created a rich atmosphere of cultural integration between the East and the West, presenting the historical significance of the Silk Road in connecting Eastern and Western trade and culture. London Branch employees proudly raised lanterns and flags with BOC logo, paying tribute to the newly appointed Lord Mayor, Michael Mainelli.

Mr. Fang Wenjian, General Manager of Bank of China Limited London Branch and Chairman of the CCCUK, was present to witness the inauguration of the 695th Lord Mayor of the City of London. He warmly greeted representatives of Chinese companies participating in the parade.

The Lord Mayor's Show is a traditional celebration in the City of London, attracting hundreds of thousands of spectators each year. Within the one-square-mile area of the City of London, 132 floats from various local companies, schools, charitable organisations, and the Royal Army, Navy, and Air Force bands danced and sang along the route. The new Lord Mayor Michael Mainelli, waved to the crowd from a golden carriage, having officially assumed the role of the 695th Lord Mayor for a one-year term as the international ambassador for the City of London.

As a representative of Chinese institutions in the UK, the Bank of China London Branch will continue to spread the positive voice of China on the international financial stage, enhance the brand image of Bank of China, and further promote China-UK economic and trade cooperation in line with China's high-level opening-up strategy.
