Bank of China London Branch Supports 2024 Chinese New Year Celebrations in the UK

On February 11th, the second day of the Chinese Lunar New Year, over 700,000 people converged at London Trafalgar Square to see the colourful dancing dragons and lions snaking down the streets in celebration of the Year of the Dragon. The Bank of China London Branch has supported this London Chinese New Year Celebration, the largest one outside of Asia, for 23 consecutive years. The Bank of China staff dressed up as "God of Wealth" distributed red envelopes and blessings to the multicultural audience, winning thunderous applause.

A traditional parade, complete with dragons, swirling dancers and handcrafted floats, kicked off the dizzying array of events in central London and London Chinatown. Attendees were treated to a blaze of red and gold with elaborate costumes, awakening lion dancing, Chinese performers, street food stalls plus Chinese arts and crafts as the London Chinatown hosted a day of family-friendly activities. The famous landmark of Trafalgar Square, Nelson's Column, also projected Chinese red and New Year blessings that night, lighting up the entire sky.

The Bank of China's stand at the Trafalgar Square attracted many visitors, and small gifts showing traditional Chinese culture of the Year of the Dragon were widely welcomed. The Bank's staff introduced our services and products to the public, effectively marketing to customers and enhancing the Bank of China's brand image and visibility.

In addition, Bank of China London Branch also supported major Chinese New Year celebrations in other major cities in the UK such as Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Edinburgh.

As the main sponsor of the event, Bank of China used its financial strength to convey the positive voice and image of China and promote traditional Chinese culture. With 95 years of development in the UK, Bank of China has become one of the important foreign-funded banks in the international financial centre. In the future, the London Branch will continue to fulfil its corporate social responsibilities, and support deepening cooperation between China and the UK.
