President Jin Liu meets with the Lord Mayor of the City of London Michael Mainelli

On 21 March, the President of Bank of China Mr Jin Liu met with Alderman Michael Mainelli, the 695th Lord Mayor of the City of London at the Bank of China Head Office in Beijing, accompanied by Mr Wenjian Fang, the General Manager of BOC London Branch.

President Liu welcomed Alderman Mainelli and his delegation and thanked the City of London for its long-term support for the development of Bank of China's business in the UK. He introduced the latest business development of BOC Group. President Liu was pleased to note that since the establishment of its London branch in 1929, Bank of China has deeply penetrated the local market. It has become one of the major foreign-funded banks in the City of London, making positive contributions to the financial, economic, and trade cooperation between China and the UK. He expressed Bank of China's willingness to continuously work with the City of London to expand cooperation in various areas, such as green finance and capital market connectivity. This cooperation aims to contribute to building a stable and mutually beneficial China-UK relationship with greater financial strength.

Alderman Mainelli said that Bank of China London Branch is an important member of the City of London family. He appreciated the long-standing role Bank of China has played as a leading Chinese bank in the UK and its contribution to the social responsibility of the City of London. He mentioned that China and the UK have broad prospects for cooperation in green finance, artificial intelligence and other areas. He hoped that Bank of China and the City of London would continue to work closely and mutually beneficial in all related areas.

Earlier, as a member of the UK-China Green Finance Taskforce, Bank of China supported China-UK Green Finance Seminar in Beijing. This event was organised by the International Institute of Green Finance of the Central University of Finance and Economics and the City of London. The seminar summarised previous practical cases, reviewed cooperation between the two sides, and explored future cooperation opportunities. Green finance is one of the most active areas of international financial cooperation. Bank of China, as the most globalised Chinese bank, has always taken the development of this area as a key strategy and has established a long-term and stable cooperation relationship with relevant parties in the UK. In the future, Bank of China will continue to deepen and improve the promotion of global green transformation.
