On February 11, Mr Haijiao Ge, Chairman of Bank of China Group, held talks with Mr Sam Woods, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England (hereinafter referred to as the "BOE") and CEO of the Prudential Regulation Authority of the United Kingdom, at the Bank of China Head Office. Chief Risk Officer of the Group Ms Rong Zhao and General Manager of Bank of China London Branch Mr Wenjian Fang also attended the meeting.
Chairman Ge said that the 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue held recently in Beijing reached a series of mutually beneficial and win-win results and consensus, bringing more opportunities for expanding practical cooperation in the financial field. With the support of the Bank of England and the Prudential Regulation Authority, Bank of China will continue to make good use of the resources of London's financial factor market, continue to enrich the RMB product system, actively expand the use of RMB, further create new opportunities for RMB business, jointly assist in the construction of London's international financial centre, and add new momentum to promote the continuous deepening and solidification of China-UK economic, trade and financial cooperation.
Mr Woods expressed gratitude for the great attention Bank of China has placed on its business development in the UK and highly praised the operational and managerial achievements of its UK institutions. He noted that Bank of England and the UK Prudential Regulation Authority have maintained good interaction and close communication with Bank of China over the years and looked forward to jointly promoting further progress in China-UK economic, trade, and financial cooperation in the future.
The two sides also had in-depth exchanges on topics such as the macroeconomic and financial landscape, as well as prospects for the banking industry.
