On March 19th, Bank of China and the City of London jointly hosted a China-UK Financial Cooperation Roundtable at the Bank of China Head Office in Beijing. The roundtable was co-chaired by Bank of China Chairman Mr Haijiao Ge and Alastair King, Lord Mayor of the City of London, accompanied by the General Manager of BOC London Branch Mr Wenjian Fang.
Chairman Ge said that the 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue held in Beijing at the beginning of the year has injected new impetus into promoting bilateral economic and financial cooperation and promoting the development of bilateral relations. Bank of China would firmly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, seizing key opportunities in the continuous expansion of China-UK green finance cooperation, the rapid development of the offshore RMB market, and the interconnection of financial markets, work closely with the City of London to foster effective cooperation, and together further promote the mutual benefits and achieve win-win situation between the two countries, opening a new chapter of bilateral cooperation.
Alastair King spoke highly of the contribution made by Bank of China in promoting China-British financial and trade cooperation, and thanked Bank of China for its long-term strong support for the City of London. He said that the City of London would continue to play an active role in promoting and deepening bilateral cooperation in the fields of the green economy and sustainable finance. Rahul Ahluwalia, HM Deputy Trade Commissioner & Minister Counsellor at British Embassy Beijing, shared his thoughts on the new opportunities brought about by the 11th China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue for further deepening the financial cooperation between the two countries.
